Sat—Sun, August 8—16, Nine-Day Retreat with Jeff Tipp, JDPSN, Seattle
Daily 6 am–8:30 pm (6 am–noon on Sunday, August 16th)
Blue Heron Zen Community is pleased to announce a nine-day retreat with Jeff Tipp, JDPSN. The retreat will begin at 6 am on Saturday, August 8th and continue daily from 6 am to 8:30 pm, ending at noon on Sunday, August 16th. Please join us for this rare opportunity to engage in an extended period of intensive Zen training.
Intensive training periods are an integral part of our Korean Zen tradition, exemplified by Zen Master Seung Sahn and the teachers he designated over the years. Although it has been twenty years since the last extended YMJJ here in Seattle, we have been heartened in this endeavor by the strong response to our 90-day Kyol Che earlier this year.
Please take time to seriously consider how, within the limits of your own situation and responsibilities, you may benefit yourself and others through your participation in this rare opportunity. Jeff, JDPSN is available to students by phone at 206.463.5808 or email at jefftipp@gmail.com until August 2nd regarding individual participation commitments, either in the Zen Center Dharma room or at home during the nine-day intensive period.
Students may choose from a number of attendance options including the full nine days; either or both weekends; any of the weekdays; or evening sessions with dharma talk. Please register in advance by sending a $25 deposit to the Zen center P.O. Box no later than August 1st, and include detailed information about which days you plan to attend.
Fees:
Members: One Day $40, Two Days $70, each additional day $25/day
Non Members: One Day $50, Two Days $90, each additional day $30/day
Residents, DTIT, and DT One Day $25, Two Days $45, each additional day $15/day
Each evening Jeff, JDPSN will present one in a series of nine related dharma talks illuminating the essential teachings of Zen Master Seung Sahn. Students with work or family commitments may choose to attend the evening sessions and dharma talks from 6:30 – 8:30 pm each evening. If you attend evening sessions, please note that you may enter the dharma room ONLY at 6:30 pm and remain until the end of the day's practice at 8:30 pm.
